Home/Body Plastic Surgery/BodyTite®

BodyTite® is a new and dynamic treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to optimize the two main components of body contouring: skin tightening and fat reduction. BodyTite® is usually performed in combination with liposuction to tighten and smooth the skin in conjunction with removing fatty tissue, making the treatment a useful body contouring option for patients who want to improve both loose, inelastic skin and redundant fat. Best of all, BodyTite® offers results that are comparable to surgical outcomes, except with less bruising, swelling, and post-operative discomfort than traditional fat removal procedures. As the only doctor in the Santa Barbara area who offers BodyTite®, Dr. Wesley Schooler is thrilled to provide patients with this minimally invasive skin tightening and body contouring treatment.

What is BodyTite® Minimally Invasive Body Contouring?

BodyTite® by InMode® uses a technology known as Radio-Frequency Assisted Lipolysis (RFAL) to gently heat the surface of the skin at the same time as the subcutaneous fat layer. This RF energy can not only melt the fat on the undersurface of the skin, resulting in easier removal, but also stimulates contraction of the skin to yield a tighter, smoother contour. This dual body contouring effect is achieved using minimally invasive techniques, often resulting in less tissue disruption and a smoother recovery period than skin excision. Dr. Schooler, our board-certified plastic surgeon, can utilize BodyTite® to help you sculpt the upper arms, abdomen, thighs, flanks, buttocks, or virtually any other body region traditionally treated with liposuction.

What are the Benefits of BodyTite®?

BodyTite® is one of the few cosmetic treatments that can facilitate fat reduction and skin tightening simultaneously. In addition, BodyTite® offers the benefits of:

Dr. Schooler can review your medical history and examine your concerns during a consultation to confirm whether BodyTite® is the best treatment to achieve your aesthetic goals. In some cases, other procedures like a tummy tuck or post-weight loss body contouring surgery may be more ideal solutions to address your concerns.

How is the BodyTite® Procedure Performed?

BodyTite® is an in-office procedure performed at our Santa Barbara practice, where Dr. Schooler is the only surgeon in the area currently offering this technology. Treatment typically utilizes local anesthesia and a sedative rather than general anesthesia. During the procedure, a thin wand is inserted under the skin through a small incision, while an external applicator is simultaneously guided along the surface of the skin. Controlled RF energy is then applied above and below the skin to liquefy subcutaneous fat and promote skin tissue contraction. If liposuction is planned for treatment, a narrow cannula is then used to suction out the melted fat and achieve an even contour. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the length of each BodyTite® procedure varies.

Is There a Recovery Period After BodyTite®?

There is usually a short period of downtime after BodyTite®, although most patients experience minimal discomfort and return to their normal routines within a few days. Any strenuous activity should be avoided for one to two weeks after your treatment. Some degree of swelling and bruising is to be expected, but compression bandages can help alleviate swelling and shape your new contours. Over-the-counter medication is generally enough to manage any residual discomfort. While many individuals notice improvement soon after their procedure, full results from BodyTite® are often realized within two months.

BodyTite® can be a powerful treatment to enhance skin laxity and refine your body contours without the recovery time of more invasive surgery. Please contact our practice online or by calling (805) 687-7336 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schooler or to learn more about our aesthetic services.
